OK here is a bit more about the game day as it stands currently:
Games Plus Miniatures Game Day
So - what the heck is this you ask ?
Well, it's pretty much what it sounds like. A Game Day for all
sorts of folks to dust off those miniatures games they haven't
pulled out in a while, find some other people to play with and
play some miniatures games.
What kind of miniatures games ?
Generally anything you want to play. It's aimed to get folks to
pull out those less than always played games out of the closet and
have some fun with them. Does that mean that we wouldn't allow
current, popular games ? Not at all.
When does it start ?
May 17th at 10am the doors to the store will open and we will have
a tidal wave of gamers amble in to start having fun.
How long will it go ?
8pm, 9 pm, 10pm maybe even 11pm. Basically, as long as people want
to play (not really past 11pm though) we should be able to
accommodate.
How much does it cost ?
Nothing. Zip, zilch, bupkucs.
If you want to donate towards prizes and/or lunch (the possibility
of a 6 foot sub for everyone is in the works) then we certainly
won't stop you.
How many people are showing up ?
Good question that. So far a few people have said they want to
come down. We haven't really gotten a registration list together
so until we get confirmation emails - it';s a good question.
When are things happening ?
Right now we are trying to put a solid schedule together for when
some thing might be occurring, but other should be going on all
day long.
All Day Events :
Anima Tactics Demo Games will be going on all day. No need to
bring anything, Drew will have forces, terrain, etc. all set to
go. We will have a table set up and as long as people want to play
(with the exception of a lunch break) we will have demos.
FFG's Wings of War WWI Biplane combat game will also be
going on all day. For those unfamiliar it is a easy to learn, fast
playing WWI biplane combat game for almost any number of people.
Rules are easy to explain in about 5 minutes, tops. The idea will
be to have a game going on that folks can jump in and out of to be
able to play something while waiting for other things to occur.
Based on the number of flyers who want to participate either there
will be a ongoing aerial melee or a series of scenarios for pilots
to play in.
AT43 Bring and Battle - Ken Wallrich is going to run a day
long game where folks can come on in, get involved and play pretty
much as long as they would like. If you want to duck out at some
point, no problem. Want to join later on ? We can do that too.
'Slotted' events
Confrontation 3 -
Ruins of Akandora : (10 am, 1pm, 4pm)
Forces from many different races have heard about an artifact that
is rumored to be lost within the ruins of a far away city. As
expeditionary forces are sent out to recover the artifact they
find out that their warband is not the only one looking...
This scenario style game can be played by 2, 3 or 4 people...
either as a two or three way game or as two teams. Each player
should bring a 300AP list using the restrictions given in the back
of the Confrontation 3 book with a 100AP 'reinforcements' list.
This extra 100AP can be made up of any troops as long as the whole
list (the 300AP plus the extra 100 AP) still conform to the
restrictions in the C3 book. If you want to play but don't have an
army there will be a couple to use. If you haven't played and want
to learn we can teach you using this scenario (or the Tomb below)
as well.
Further details will be given when the game starts.
Zach's game Tomb of Eschil II :
as of the moment Zach is working on a C3 2 player scenario based
on the Tomb of Eschil scenario from Dogs of War fame. 300 AP
armies (or 400 AP if you and your foe wish) with Army Building
restrictions from the back of the Confrontation 3 book. Further
details when you sit down to play.
Fields of Glory - for folks wanting to see what the new
Ancient/Medieval game from Osprey looks like, Chuck Hines is
planning on running a demo to introduce folks to the game in the
afternoon. Time TBA.
Flintloque Reloaded (11 am) - Bob McAlister will be putting together a scenario
for Flintloque Reloaded (Napoleonic Fantasy Skirmish game).
Can the French Elven forces get across the bridge to safety before
the
Albion
Orcs get to them first ? A game for 2 to 4 players - rules to be
taught, miniatures provided.
Ogre/GEV Miniatures - yes, the game from a million, zillion
years ago of powersuited infantry cybernetic tanks and heavy
vehicles lobbing little nukes at each other. Combine and Pan-Europeans go at it again in the
future... Hosted by Rich George with tons of miniatures and some
pretty cool terrain.
Glenn Domingo's Games : (starting around 3pm)
Glenn has a trio of games he can run, depending on what folks want
to do. An 'Aliens' game based off the movie of the same name
pitting Colonial marines against the Alien Menace which ran at
Little Wars earlier in April, a Star Trek motion picture era
starship combat game and a Tron game for folks to play in. All the
games can go as long or short as the crowd playing want.
and last but not least
Infinity - Take and Hold (6pm)
Two to four players search the table for objective markers - and
subsequntly must hold out for a number of turns before evacuation
occurs. Figures provided and rules taught. But you can bring your
own figures if you'd like...
More details (like timing and scenario specifics) will
be coming over the course of the week. If your interested in doing
something or want to make sure you get to play something, drop
an email and I'll get back to you as soon as I can.
There will also be tables available if you just want to come in
and play something. as well.
