Saturday, May 3rd, Mount Prospect is having a Derby Day/Cinco deMayo celebration downtown.
What does that mean to you?
It means that Prospect Ave will be closed between 83 (Main St) and Willie Street from 9am on. (see the red box east of us on the map)
How will you get to the store you ask?
Follow the green line and turn West onto West Evergreen Ave, head North up Willie and then either swing into the parking lot behind the store, or up to Prospect, turn back West and find a spot on Prospect Ave.
The Alfresco dining will have started so the area in front of Lady Delhia will not have parking, but Prospect will still be open both East and Westbound between Willie and Central.
Coming North up 83, you can turn onto Willie and go through a bit of the neighborhood to reach us that way.
And for those planning trips in the future, the Alfresco dining will be taking up the 6 parking spaces in from of Patina Wine bar, Lady Delhia, Splendid Day Spa, Synergy Fitness and Vision Center for the summer, into the Fall and until October 6th.
So plan ahead for Saturday’s shindig and for the summer and Fall dining season.

So it’s been a while since I was able to do an update – so here is the first of the week :

Terrible Games – Valka designed for 1-5 players, ages 12 and up. Plays in around half an hour or so. This savage post apocalyptic fantasy card game of warband combat. Includes multi-player and lonequest rules and includes, dice, standees, tokens and more.
Tabletop Tycoon – Everdell Duo a stand alone 1 or 2 player game set in the Everdell universe. Includes a robust solo campaign and competitive head-to-head game play. Ages 10 and up. Plays in around half and hour.
Mariposa Games – Trailblazer : The Arizona Trail 1-4 players, ages 14 and up. Travel along the 800 mile long Arizona trail, taking in the sights and sounds of mountains, canyons, deserts and plateaus. Create your own mural of the trip and try to score the best after 8 rounds of play. Takes around 40 minutes per player.
Roxley Games – Santorini second edition. Learn it in 30 seconds, play it for life. Use the gods powers to build a village and rise to the top of the heap. 2-4 players, ages 8 and up. Plays in under half an hour.
Ares Games – Builders of Sylvan Dale a three dimensional tile placement game. Place dwellings in the treetops of Sylvan Dale, gain special actions to build bridges or adding to treetops and make your dwellings tower above those of your opponents. Become the greatest architect of the Dale. Ages 10+, 2-4 players. Takes around 45 minutes to play.
Darucat – Heredity ; The Book of Swan A cooperative and Narrative game of family in a post-apocalyptic world. Play through the 5 chapter campaign and see how well you and your family fares.
Worldspanner Games – Worldspanner : Duel of Ages a game for 2-8 players where teams of players compete to gain glory and loot and attempt to gi favor of the Houses and the Queen Mother. Designed for ages 14 and up. Plays in 2 to 4 hours depending on players and scenario.
Compass Games – Roma Victrix : Campaigns of the Roman World a grand strategic, scenario based game recreating several historical conflicts as well as hypothetical engagements that could have occurred during Rome’s history from 218BC to 533AD. Twenty different scenarios. Designed for 2-6 players – although it’s best with 6. Plays in 3 to 8 hours depending on the scenario. Many scenarios are suitable for solitaire play. Ages 14 and up.
GMT Games – Fighting Formations : US 29th Infantry Division 14 scenarios pitting the 29th Infantry against German forces in France, Holland and Germany from June to November in 1944. Designed for 2 players, ages 14 and up. Scenarios play in 2-3 hours.
So by now you have probably heard about the tariffs which are being levied on imported goods. This will not just affect the raw materials, but the finished products like board games as well. As a manufacturer the cost of my components dictate the final price of my game. Usual the retail price of a game is around five to six times the component cost to account for shipping, advertising, distribution and other miscellaneous expenses. Subsequently the cost of my game components going for 4 dollars to 5, a 25% tariff, the cost of the game would increase not from 20 to 24 but to 25 or 30 dollars.
That said – we here at Games Plus will do the best we can to stock the shelves and get you the products you want. Prices on older games shouldn’t fluctuate too much right off, but new production games may well sooner than later. And it might well spell the
By the same token, the cost of tin, photo reactive resins and other raw materials may well affect the cost of miniatures in due time.
