Cathy Wappel. Fare thee well.

To those of you who knew the Wappels, you would have met Cathy.
She was a wonderful person and a treat to talk with. Need painting help? She was there. Want to chat about gaming? There too. Go by Fort Wappel at a convention? Always happy to say hi. Or she may even have been out and about at conventions between events rubbing elbows with other folks. She and Jim were a pair of talented artists who were friendly, approachable and down to earth.

As some of you may know, Cathy was diagnosed with cancer a while back. It was knocked into remission and almost was entirely gone. Then it came back with a vengeance. Cathy lost her fight to this insidious disease not too long ago. Nothing will be able to replace her enthusiasm, friendliness and advice.

As one might guess, the salary and benefits of being a free lance tabletop artist isn’t as expansive as one might think. Nor does it come with super great insurance. So a GoFundMe has been set up to help out Jim in dealing with the costs. So if you can, please, make a donation.

Thanks for reading this and helping in anyway you can.

(3/29) INVENTORY POSTPONED

Hey there everyone.
In the wake of post-Adepticon and post-Garycon illnesses sweeping through the community, along with a number of our staff recuperating from pre-convention illnesses, we are going to postpone the inventory.

We expect to put it off about 2 weeks in order to make sure there isn’t an issue with staffing and community at that point.

We will alert everyone as to the new date as soon as we have it finalized.

-Rich

Friday, March 24th Adepticon, Year End and… HELP!

It’s that time of year…

Hey there friends, followers and fans of Games Plus.

Adepticon is in full swing and if you stop by, come take a look at the booth and say hi to the guys.
We have busy up to our eyeballs this week with post-auction, pre-Adepticon it’s-almost-too-many-things-at-once time of year. Sorry for the lack of updates. But we will see more news tomorrow. Promise.

On to more fun news
This year we turn 42 and we are looking to you, our community for a little help.

As we approach our birthday we need to do Year End Inventory. An actual count of the actual stuff in our actual store. Would you be willing to help us out?

We are hoping that a whole bunch of you all would be willing to spare a few hours to count, tally and record some totals.

When? Friday, March 31st. 10am… or earlier

For how long? As long as you can spare.

What’s in it for you?
First off, our gratitude.
Secondly, beverages.
Thirdly, pizza perhaps. Subs and or hot dogs maybe. A snack or two for sure as well as lunch and/or dinner for those helping out. Maybe even some of Dave’s amazing Rumaki.
Additionally, some store credit – we understand folks don’t work for free. Even some of the most exciting and rewarding work in the world by the most helpful people needs a better reward than just a snack, lunch, some Coke and a pat on the back. So there is a bit of that coming to helpers too.

And finally – the camaraderie of contributing to the community you’ve helped us build over these years. Heck, if we can get it done soon enough we may even be able to play a game or two that evening.

So please – let us know if you can help us out. Or surprise us and just show up. Either way, if we know you will be around… it’ll make it easier to plan for the refreshments
